^5 + Nov27

Mondays are…well, Mondays. I want to give you a high five to start your week. Here are my high 5 : a space, my home base, a face, a word of grace, and a place.
I’m holding back on any holiday-filled spaces until December. Just because. So, to just be neutral for this week’s space, feast your eyes on this living room from Leclair Decor. Scrumptious. Their projects are beautiful, and this living room is no exception. I’m a sucker for loads of light and creative seating. I’m loving the poufs and the additional seating right in the hot spot in front of the fireplace.
Thanksgiving came and went without much of a fuss. We enjoyed a pretty quiet day here in our hometown, and I really appreciated not driving much on travel days that are crazy. On the project front, just a few odds n’ ends around our house. We painted our living room and are nearly done with our kitchen. We’ve been needing to do that project since we moved in a year and a half ago. I also cleaned off my desk which can be (and was) a huge undertaking.
A couple of new things coming up: I’m starting another weekly blog series! I’m all about interior design being intentional and having a larger purpose: connection. It’s the place families interact with one another over a meal prepared from scratch. It’s movie night cuddled up on the couch with the kids. It’s inviting extended family or friends over for games. I want to give some encouragement to make those connections. Hoping that the ideas I share will inspire you to make those precious connections.
The holidays are upon us, and next week I’ll be bringing you a tutorial on decorating your mantel. I’m looking forward to sharing some ideas for making your home festive!
Lastly, Facebook live! I’ve jumped on that bandwagon and it’s so much fun. All the videos are accessible through our Facebook page and I put them out every Thursday. This Thursday, Nov. 30, we’re giving some pointers on painting (since it’s fresh enough in our minds that our house smells like it). Which sheen for which room, rollers, paint brushes, technique…it’s all going to be there, including a demonstration from Ryan. He’s done contractor work for 15+ years, and that includes painting. He’s truly an expert! In case you missed it, here is my FB live from a couple weeks ago where I share on how to choose and build a color palette.

My family and I had the privilege of receiving some of our favorite photographs of our daughter from Gina of Gina Y Photography in Salt Lake City, Utah. She has a wide variety of services from maternity to school portraits (and more), and she has a pretty amazing service to special needs families for full sessions at a special rate. I love that she has come up with a way to share her talents in a variety of ways. She was so great with our kiddo and was able to capture her bright-eyed wonder and sweet spirit!
Some days we just need a word. Something that reminds us to keep on going and reminds us we’re not alone. It’s a grace to hear things like this:
I’ve seen this pic floating around Pinterestland for years and years, but never did I actually know that this place, dubbed “Tunnel of Love” in Ukraine, is an active train track that is used three times a day. Beware when taking a selfie.
Here’s hoping that this ^5 (and some strong coffee) get you thorough this Monday!

I'm inspired by great design, thoughtful writing, and sharing what I know. And shenanigans.
